Dive into the cyberpunk dystopia
Works In Progress
“Clawing to the Top”
Esteban Sanchez has achieved his dream of playing with the Chicago Blaze. However, times are changing and cybernetic soccer, a league of athletes with mechanical implants that allow them to perform superhuman feats, is on the rise. Many teams are making the switch including Chicago Blaze. After being let go because he wasn’t seen fit for cybernetic soccer, Esteban chooses to defy the odds and get cybernetics even if it means losing his perfectly good limbs. Now with thrusters for legs, Esteban must learn the new rules of cybernetic soccer, learn to use cybernetics for the first time, and prove that he has what it takes to earn his old spot back.
Cyber Soccer Regulations
1. Cybernetics cannot be physically or digitally modified outside of manufactured specs.
2. Cybernetics must be installed as pairs.
3. Players are not allowed to mix and match cybernetics.
4. Medical reasons are not required to get cybernetics.
5. Random cyber checks can happen at the discretion of the league during pit stops and start and end of games. If a player is found to have tampered with their cybernetic outside of regulations, the team will be disqualified from the current tournament.
6. Regular soccer rules still apply: offsides, 11 v 11, goalkeeper lines, and red and yellow cards.
7. Players are allowed to pit for repairs once per half. There is no limit to how many players can pit at a time. A substitute player cannot take their place during a pit unless a critical malfunction that cannot be resolved in 5 minutes for the cybernetics are determined.
9. If a regulation is ever in question, the ref shall serve as the tiebreaker.
